I grew up in the mountains of Western Massachusetts. The Appalachian trail ran through nearby towns. Those hilltowns were home to some of the prettiest trout water I can recall.
I would fish for trout from early spring until there were no leaves left on the trees. Back then, I would dig holes all over our yard looking for worms to throw in a coffee can before heading out to whatever trout water I could ride to on my bike. I was blue lining before I even knew what that was!
Fast forward 15 years. I bought my first fly rod and never looked back. I fished the tail water section of Deerfield River below Fife Brook Dam every day after work until dark.
I dove in and learned everything I could about entomology and hatches, fly tying, and read any and all books or magazines to find out about trout and their behavior.
Sharing this fly fishing obsession with people is my NEW passion! Teaching folks how to become successful anglers, helping them understand why trout behave the way they do, and offering techniques to become more confident on the water are my main goals with any client. Having a good time doing all that is also my goal for the day!
Getting to know the rivers and lakes in Western NC and Eastern Tennessee has been so much fun! Dialing in hatches, flies, habitat, and water release schedules is making me a better angler and guide, and I look forward to sharing that with my clients.
