Buffalo Neck Hair

Buffalo neck hair is a coarse, slightly crinkled natural hair prized for tying durable, high-floating dry flies and rugged attractor patterns. The fibers have a hollow, buoyant quality similar to elk, but with a bit more texture and stiffness—making it ideal for spun bodies, flared collars, bass bugs, and traditional Western patterns.

Excellent for larger dries, terrestrials, and steelhead flies when you want added bulk, movement, and durability. Natural tones blend beautifully in stonefly, hopper, and caddis imitations.
