Caribou hair is extremely hollow, lightweight, and highly buoyant—making it one of the best natural materials for high-floating dry flies and comparadun-style wings. The fibers flare easily when tied in, creating wide, stable wings and bodies with minimal bulk.

Softer and more compressible than deer or elk, caribou is ideal for delicate presentations where maximum floatation is needed without added weight. It excels in parachutes, comparaduns, and traditional attractor dries.
