Jack’s Honey Bug Cotton Chenille — Original Stock
This is one of the finds tucked away in the huge collection of materials I acquired from Jack Mickievicz: original Honey Bug cotton chenille!
The cotton matters. It takes on water, helping the fly sink and giving the body a soft, grub-like appearance when wet. It’s the material for tying the classic Honey Bug—a simple pattern with a long following among Pennsylvania trout fishermen. You can also put it to work on caddis and cranefly larva imitations.
For tiers who remember using this material, here’s a chance to get some back on the bench. For those discovering it through a tying video, welcome to one of the interesting corners of Blue Halo.
Original stock of a material that is no longer manufactured. Available quantities depend on color.
